Everyone loves Movies Under the Stars

Each spring, summer and fall, the Police Jury shows a variety of movies on Fridays at sundown in Prien Lake Park - free of charge. Guests are encouraged to bring their blankets or chairs out early (around 7 p.m.) to claim a good spot in the park to watch some of the silver screen's finest films - from recent blockbusters to timeless classic pictures.

SPRING 2018:

Get ready to enjoy four fantastic movies on Fridays in April during “Movies Under the Stars.”  

The movie series, which features some mischievous Minions, an aspiring young musician, comedic race cars, and a young boy who was born to stand out, will kick off Friday, April 6, at Prien Lake Park, 3700 West Prien Lake Road.

Movies and dates:

  • April 6 - “Despicable Me 3:” The mischievous Minions hope that Gru will return to a life of crime after the new boss of the Anti-Villain League fires him. Instead, Gru chooses to remain retired and travel to Freedonia to meet his long-lost twin brother for the first time. The reunited siblings soon find themselves in an uneasy alliance to take down the elusive Balthazar Bratt, a former 1980s child star who seeks revenge against the world (Rated PG).
  • April 13 – “Coco:” Despite his family's decades-old music ban,young Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the colorful “Land of the Dead.” After meeting a charming con artist named Héctor, the two embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history (Rated PG).


  • April 20 – “Cars 3:” Displaced by a new generation of high-tech racing cars, the legendary Lighting McQueen finds himself cast aside from the sport that he loves. Hoping to get back in the race, he turns to Cruz Ramirez, an eager young trainer who has her own plans for winning. With inspiration from the Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected twists and turns, No. 95 prepares again to make his Piston Cup comeback (Rated PG).


  • April 27 – “Wonder:” Based on the New York Times bestseller, the movie tells the inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, who was born with mandibulofacial dysostosisa rare facial deformity. Auggie has had many surgeries which have prevented him from going to a regular school. When he does enter the fifth grade in a public school, his family, his new classmates, and the community all struggle to discover their compassion and acceptance. Auggie's extraordinary journey unites them all and proves you can't blend in when you were born to stand out (Rated PG).
  • All movies will start at sundown at Prien Lake Park, but get there early to get a good seat. Residents are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs. You can also bring your own food, but there will be food available on site for purchase.

    Movies will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
