All Calcasieu Parish Police Jury departments will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
The Calcasieu River is now open to recreational boat traffic.
The Calcasieu Parish Human Services Department is looking for adult volunteers to help with its Point in Time Homeless Count, which will take place 5 p.m.-9 a.m. Jan. 28- Jan. 29 at the Purple Heart Recreation Center, 4305 Avenue H, in Lake Charles.

Calcasieu Parish senior citizens who have questions about Medicare are invited to the upcoming “Lunch and Learn” workshop, which will be held from 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Allen P. August Annex Building, 2001 Moeling St., Lake Charles.
The Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, in consultation with Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso, has issued an emergency declaration to close the Calcasieu River to all recreational boat traffic beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4.
Alligator Park is now closed due to flooding. According to the National Weather Service, significant flooding is expected along portions of the Sabine and Calcasieu rivers.
Calcasieu Waterworks District No. 5 of Wards 3 and 8 has lifted the boil advisory for residents living on U.S. 90 from Goodman Road, west to Bunker Road, south on Bunker Road to Vincent Street, north on Bunker Road to the railroad tracks and all of Goodman Lane.
All Calcasieu Parish Police Jury departments will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year’s Day.
