Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Launches Parish-wide Strategic Planning Effort
In May 2018, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is launching a strategic planning effort designed to enhance, build upon, and further inform parish government’s role in supporting parish-wide growth and success in the coming years. The planning effort includes setting and implementing parish-level priorities and multi-year goals focused on citizen service, workforce engagement and supporting a strong quality-of-life for all who live, work and play in Calcasieu Parish.
One of the key elements to developing this strategic plan involves public input, particularly in helping CPPJ officials understand resident and stakeholder satisfaction with services provided by CPPJ departments, identify areas for improvement and build long-term goals the Police Jury can work toward in the coming years.
As an initial way to provide input into this process, officials are asking citizens to complete a brief survey that includes questions about existing CPPJ services and areas the Police Jury should focus on or prioritize to support a strong quality-of-life over the next several years. Survey responses will be accepted until June 1.
The survey is accessible online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/cppjstrategicplanning and in person at various CPPJ offices, including the Calcasieu Parish Government Building, located at 1015 Pithon Street in Lake Charles, and all Calcasieu Parish Public Library branches. In addition to completing this survey, citizens are invited to email other feedback or input to the CPPJ strategic planning team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the coming months, officials will also hold “strategic planning office hours” at various locations in Calcasieu Parish in order to provide citizens with an opportunity to meet one-on-one with members of the CPPJ's strategic planning team and share their input or feedback in person. The dates, times and locations for these office hours will be announced by CPPJ in the coming weeks and posted to this dedicated webpage for CPPJ’s strategic planning efforts.
In addition to broad public outreach and citizen engagement, the Police Jury is gathering feedback from CPPJ employees on topics ranging from how to provide more efficient and effective services to helping identify potential issues or opportunities for improvement. The results of this employee feedback, when combined with public input, will serve as the basis for priorities to be adopted by the Police Jury and goals to be established by CPPJ administration and departments in the coming months.
This strategic planning process is expected to conclude by the end of 2018 with a clear vision and plan to guide parish government efforts over the next three to five years. For more information about this strategic planning process, call the Parish Administrator’s office at 337-721-3500.
