Brian Abshire is the new District 5 police juror. He was elected without opposition to fill the seat vacated by Nicholas E. Hunter, who officially resigned from the jury after being elected as the mayor of the City of Lake Charles.
Abshire, a vice president and commercial lender for IBERIABANK, is active in a wide range of civic and volunteer organizations and he has held leadership positions in many of them.
Abshire said he’s looking forward to his new role.
“I have always been interested in local government and have kept up-to-date on what’s happening in our city and parish. I saw the opportunity to get more involved and actually help to influence the growth of the parish in a positive manner. I look forward to serving the citizens of Calcasieu Parish over the next 2 years,” he said.
The father of three children – Mason, Connor, and Shelby, Abshire is actively involved at Immaculate Conception Cathedral School, where all three children attend. He lives in the downtown Garden District of Lake Charles and is a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. In his spare time, Abshire enjoys spending his time with his children and friends, and playing tennis.
