Travel Channel to Air Calcasieu Courthouse on “Ghost Stories” Episode
TV show about the only woman executed in Louisiana airs this Saturday
Saturday, the Calcasieu Courthouse will be featured on national TV. It will provide the backdrop of a local ghost story about Toni Jo Henry, who was the only woman to die in the electric chair in Louisiana. The episode airs at 8pm and 11pm Saturday, October 16th and at 11am October 30th.
Tales of Toni Jo’s ghost haunting the courthouse, meddling with office equipment and locking doors will be mixed in with a historical account of Toni Jo’s colorful life. In 1942 she was convicted of murdering a man while on her way to break her boyfriend out of a Texas prison. The episode will feature interviews with local historians and courthouse workers who are familiar with the story. Toni Jo’s ghost will be re-enacted by Police Jury employee Julie Ann Fay. Animal Services also provided a dog to play Toni Jo’s jailhouse pet during the shoot.
Production took place in May around the Courthouse complex as well as Lake Charles and DeQuincy. “My Tupelo Entertainment” produced the episode for the Travel Channel.
