Calcasieu Parish Police Jury's Public Works Department Makes a Showing at State ROADeo Competition
Two Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Public Works employees won awards at the Louisiana chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA)’s annual ROADeo, held recently in Covington, LA.
The ROADeo brought in Public Works employees from all over the state to test their heavy machinery skills in various obstacle courses. Categories included backhoe, front-end loader/excavator, truck run and skid steer loader.
CPPJ’s Shawn Brister and Chuck Savoie, won first and second place awards, respectively, in the backhoe competition. The two were among the top winners at the CPPJ’s Public Works Department’s Annual Training and Rodeo, held last August, which then allowed them to move on to the state competition.
In addition to their wins in the backhoe competition, Brister also competed in the front-end loader, skid steer and truck run competitions; Savoie competed in the front-end loader and skid steer competitions.
