Juvenile Justice Services Announces Parking, Road Access Changes
Because of ongoing construction, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Office of Juvenile Justice Services wants to alert the public of some road access and parking changes at the facility.
As of Tuesday, Nov. 6, the west – or second - entrance into the facility from East Prien Lake Road is now closed. Visitors should use the east – or third - entrance until further notice. Signs are clearly posted to direct traffic.
These changes are due to the construction of the new 50,000 square-foot, $20.6 million OJJS offices and detention center, being built behind the existing facility.
Once completed, the new facility will house 38 beds total in five units, an on-site medical clinic and expanded space for mental health services and vocational-technical training. It will also feature a multi-purpose space, dayroom and a large recreation yard.
