Movies Under the Stars Lights Up the Silver Screen this Spring
Movies Under the Stars is back with lots of quirky animals and one determined princess for the spring series this April. The antics begin Friday, April 7th and continue through Friday, April 28th.
This spring, Movies Under the Stars features ocean folklore, a one-of-a-kind talent competition, a forgetful fish and the life your pets don’t want you to know about when you leave the house.
- April 7th – Opening night, the ocean calls to a young Polynesian girl against her father’s wishes. Will she be able to lift the curse that has kept her village land-bound in Disney’s “Moana?”
- April 14th – A theater manager hatches a brilliant plan to save his theater by hosting a far-reaching singing competition! However, his life isn’t the only one that will transform after everyone has taken the spotlight in “Sing.”
- April 21st – One of Disney’s beloved characters gets a story of her own if only she could remember what it was. Find out if the delightful tang fish, Dory, can find her long-lost parents again in Disney’s “Finding Dory.”
- April 28th – It’s dog against dog with a few birds, rabbits and cats mixed in, when a terrier named Max and a mutt named Duke share an owner in “The Secret Life of Pets.” Before the movie, families will also be able to meet furry friends looking for a new home from the Calcasieu Parish Animal Services and Adoption Center.
Each movie begins at dusk around 7:00 p.m. at Prien Lake Park, located at 3700 West Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles. Admission is free to the public. Patrons may bring their own food or they can purchase tasty treats on-site from Mr. Gatti’s Pizza and Tikiz Gulf Coast. Residents are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled.
