The primary mission for the Risk Management department is to identify and evaluate areas of potential loss to Calcasieu Parish personnel and property and recommend appropriate risk management techniques to minimize the loss and the adverse effects of unpredictable events.
To achieve this mission, the Risk Management Department:
- Maintains current values for buildings, contents, and moveable property
- Responds to all property, liability and other casualty losses, initiates investigations and completes compromised settlements of all claims
- Develops programs for loss prevention based on available loss data
- Serves as a resource and provides consultation on matters related to insurance and loss prevention
The Department administers insurance claims for workers’ compensation, general liability, automobile, employment related practices, and the Parish’s employee health, dental, and life insurances.
