The Finance Department is responsible for the control of all financial activities of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and its component units. The Department provides comprehensive financial management, accounting, and reporting services, prepares the Parish’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, prepares the Annual Budget, provides overall risk management and debt management services for the Parish, manages the Parish’s surplus property program, performs payroll functions, and organizes purchasing/procurement services for all Parish Departments and Special Service Districts under the direction of the Purchasing Agent.
The Finance Division has received its 24th consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the National Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its 2014 report. A Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is valid for a period of one year. The Parish strives to maintain this award on an ongoing basis. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, the Parish publishes an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report. This report satisfies accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America, applicable legal requirements and certain criteria established by the GFOA.
