Dr. Charles Mackey -

Dr. Charles Mackey was elected in 1985, and is serving his
fifth term as a Police Juror. He has been a family dentist in Lake Charles for
40 years. Charles and his wife, Gail, have three children, Erin, Guy, and Brian,
and nine grandchildren. He is a member of Immaculate Conception Cathedral,
where he received the Medal of Devoted Service in 1974. He is a lecturer
and Eucharistic Minister.
In his spare time, he enjoys stained glass, woodworking, and gardening. Noteworthy accomplishments include Dental Coordinator for Headstart Program,
a Fellow of Distinguished Service in Dentistry for Louisiana, Public Official
of the Year from the Diocese of Lake Charles, the Civic Service Award from the
Chamber/Southwest Louisiana in 1998, a Fellow in the Pierre Fouchard Academy
of Dentistry, and Master of the Academy of General Dentistry; also was named
Public Official of the Year in 1999 by the National Association of Social
Workers, and received the Liberty Bell Award in 1997 for Law Day USA. He
was also inducted into the International College of Dentistry in 1998 and
served as chairman of the Government Division for the United Way Drive in
2004.
Dr. Mackey served as President of the Police Jury in 1997 and 2000.

and Means, Agenda, Budget, Alcohol Review, Parishwide Drainage Liaison, Personnel Policy Review
(Chair), and Wastewater Study.
Dr. Mackey represents
District 5, which includes the area within Lake Charles generally north of
Prien Lake Road, south of Clarence Street, east of 1st Avenue and extending
westward to include the lake and the port.
