Shannon Spell, P.E., a resident of the Ward One area (Moss Bluff, Gillis, and Topsy) is serving his first term as the District One Police Juror with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury.  Shannon is currently the owner and principle engineer for Spell Structural Consulting, LLC as well as Vice President of R.D. Spell, Inc.  Shannon is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering and a Minor in Construction Management. 

Shannon is a licensed professional engineer with the State of Louisiana practicing structural engineering in Southwest Louisiana.  He is also licensed to practice engineering in the States of Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama.  He has ten years of experience in the field of civil/structural engineering.  He is currently a member of the Southwest Louisiana Chamber of Commerce and Economic Alliance.  His professional memberships include the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Institute of Steel Construction, the American Concrete Institute, the American Wood Council, and the Pre-Cast/Pre-Stressed Concrete Institute.  

Born in Lake Charles, Shannon was raised in Moss Bluff and  graduated from Sam Houston High School.  Shannon has been married to his wife Nicole for seventeen years and has three children.   He and his family are members of Moss Bluff United Methodist Church. 

Shannon has served as a coach and board member for both the Moss Bluff Dixie Youth Baseball League and Moss Bluff Recreation Football League.  He has served as President and Vice President of the Ward One Economic Development Board.  He has also served as President for the Board of Commissioners of Sewer District #9 of Ward One.  He is currently an active member of the Moss Bluff Civic Club, Big Sam Football Boosters, and the Sam Houston Baseball Boosters.

Committees: Public Works, Ways and Means, Agenda, General Insurance, Parishwide Drainage Liaison, Special Service Districts Review,  Ambulance Regulatory, and Wastewater Study.

Mr. Spell represents District 1, which is a portion of Ward 1, and includes areas in Moss Bluff mostly west of U.S. 171 and the Gillis, Topsy Area.
