Progress continues to be made on the proposed boat
launch and park to be located at the intersection of
the Industrial Canal and Intracostal Waterway. As of
May 2002, Joe Champeaux with Champeaux/Landry
Architects and City Planners, has been retained as
the Architect for the project. Assisting Joe with
the structural engineering is Charles Ladner, Charles Ladner & Associates, consulting
structural engineers.
On October 10, 2002, the Calcasieu Parish Police
Jury awarded the project to a low bidder of F.
Miller & Sons, Inc., to implement Phase I of the
Industrial Canal Boat Launch and Park. The
"Notice-to-Proceed" should be issued in early
November and construction will begin shortly
thereafter. Construction should take
approximately six months.
