Parish provides temporary assistance for needy families

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Office of Community Services is offering client assessments for the new Temporary Assistance for Needy Families-Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Allen P. August Multi-Purpose Center, 2001 Moeling St.

People who qualify can get $400 in utility assistance benefits.

This special enrollment opportunity is being provided in an effort to assist those households attempting the transition from welfare to work and low-income households.

Appointments are not required.  Assessments are on a first come, first served basis.

All potential applicants must bring identification, proof of income or proof of school enrollment, electric and gas bills, Social Security numbers of all household members and verification of all children in the home are 18 years of age and under.
