RESIDENTS ARE
ENCOURAGED TO DROP OFF TIRES
AT POLICE JURY
COLLECTION SITES

In March, 1996, the
Calcasieu Parish Police Jury established two waste
tire collection sites in the Parish where residents
may drop off old passenger tires free of charge.
Since that time, over 28,000 waste tires have been
collected at these two sites.
The two collection sites
located at the Police Jury’s Public Works
Maintenance Facilities near Sulphur and Lake Charles
(see addresses below) are permitted to receive tires
under a program established by the Louisiana
Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ). The
Police Jury is pleased with the success of this
program. Residents of Calcasieu Parish are
encouraged to use the facilities, which helps to
control illegal dumping and reduce mosquito breeding
grounds.
The following conditions
apply at the tire collection sites:
* Only tires from
passenger vehicles will be accepted, and the tires
must be free of rim.
* Drop-off times
are Monday through Thursday between 6:00 a.m. and
4:00 p.m.
* The LDEQ has
established a limit of 19 tires per drop-off.
