At their regular meeting
on August 18th, the Police Jury approved
a partnership agreement with the U.S. Marine Corps
League for the 2005 Calcasieu Parish Toys for Tots
Campaign. The Police Jury will provide a $5,000
grant, and Ms. Sandy Mason, Coordinator of Special
Projects for the Police Jury, will assist the League
with local fundraising initiatives and community
support for this campaign.
The
Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has been an active
partner and local supporter of local Toys for Tots
within Calcasieu Parish since 1996. The Police Jury
Office of Special Projects will be providing to
Detachment 1157 financial, logistical and
promotional support consistent with their collective
vision and objectives which are to ensure that needy
children residing within Calcasieu Parish experience
the joy of Christmas through the gift of a shiny new
toy and a message of hope, to help motivate them to
grow into responsible, productive, patriotic
citizens and community leaders.
A
successful 2005 Toys for Tots Calcasieu Parish
Campaign will require the solicitation of new toys
and local monetary contributions. Local efforts may
include but will not be limited to the distribution
of print, television and radio public service
announcements, local toys drives, and local fund
raising events.
Parents and or guardians of potentially eligible
children who may wish to participate in the 2005
Toys for Tots Campaign, as recipients, must reside
within Calcasieu Parish.
All potentially eligible households
within Calcasieu Parish may contact the Calcasieu
Parish Office of Special Projects at 337-721-3595 or
