The City of Lake Charles
and Southwest Louisiana Team Green are sponsoring
the Annual "Great
American Cleanup (tm) Residential Trash Bash,"
set for Saturday, April 17 from 8 - 11 a.m.
in the south parking lot of the Lake Charles Civic
Center.
Citizens can bring discarded materials and
recyclable/reusable items such as:
-
tires
-
paint
-
scrap metal
-
clothing
-
oil and antifreeze
*Commercial businesses
and contractors will not be allowed to dispose at
the Trash Bash.
According to Carolyn Woosley, Southwest Louisiana
Team Green Trash Bash Chairperson, citizens will
enter and exit the Civic Center parking lot at the
northern Bord Du Lac Drive entrance, off Veteran's
Memorial Blvd.
"We are asking that residents have their items in
order of collection to help speed up traffic flow,"
said Woosley. "This is a fun project for families to
work together and clean up around the house."
Disposal items should be ordered as follows: Oil &
anti-freeze; batteries; reusable items; tires;
miscellaneous items; paint; and scrap metal.
The city littering ordinance 13-15.1 will be
enforced.
Items not being accepted are radioactive, explosive or
pathogenic materials, as well as gas and butane
tanks.
Waste
Management and BFI are providing large containers to
dispose of general household trash. Pumpelly Oil is
providing collection of used motor oil and used
anti-freeze. Southern Scrap is collecting
out-of-service appliances and scrap metal items.

furniture items in good condition.
