The
Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and the Calcasieu
Parish Sheriff's Office renewed a joint services
agreement wherein they both agree that there exists
at some Parish parks an escalating problem with
disorderly conduct and disturbances and additional
security is needed.
The Sheriff's Office
agrees to provide increased patrols in an effort to
minimize the disturbances and increase the
protection of citizens and their property,
especially during the summer months.
The Sheriff will also
provide deputies to be stationed at Mallard Junction
Park and LaFleur (I-210) Park as follows:
Each Saturday, Sunday,
and Holiday beginning May 4, 2002, through September
30, 2002, including Monday, May 27, 2002 (Memorial
Day); Thursday, July 4, 2002 (Independence Day); and
Monday, September 2, 2002 (Labor Day). This is
a total of 47 days with 2 deputies per day from the
hours of 11:00am until 9:00pm.
