At its January 3rd regular meeting, the
Calcasieu Parish Police Jury elected Enos Derbonne
as President for 2002 and Hal McMillin as
Vice-President, both by acclamation. Mr. Derbonne
succeeds Elizabeth C. Griffin, and Mr. McMillin
succeeds Cornelius Moon.
Mr. Derbonne stated that he was honored to be
selected by his colleagues as President, and he
mentioned some of the key goals for the Police Jury
in the coming year. They include: continuation and
reconfiguration of the Police Jury’s 1992 sales tax
to meet high profile needs, renewal of the Burton
Coliseum and Agricultural Services tax, and planning
and development for major recreational sites located
at Prien Lake Park and Port of Lake Charles property
on the Industrial Canal.
Mr. Derbonne represents District 9, which includes
the southern portion of Ward 3 west of Hwy. 397,
east of the Calcasieu River, south of the city
limits of Lake Charles to the parish line.
