At its January 6th
regular
meeting, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury elected
Hal McMillin as President for 2005 and Calvin
Collins
as Vice-President, both by acclamation. Mr.
McMillin succeeds Brent Clement, and Mr. Collins succeeds
Mike Danahay.
Mr. McMillin stated that
he was honored to be selected by his colleagues as
President, and he mentioned some key goals for the
Police Jury in 2005. They include:

Completion of a long
range traffic study for Calcasieu Parish;

Continuation of a
comprehensive sewerage study;

Work the other local
governments to continue pursuing an I-10 overpass in
Westlake;
-
Improvements to several
parks including Prien Lake Park, Intracoastal Park,
and Calcasieu Point Landing; and
-
Review alternatives for
effectively managing drainage within the Parish.
Mr. McMillin
represents District 14, which includes the southeast corner of Ward 6, mostly
south of Dunn Ferry Rd. and east of Hwy. 27; also Northeast Ward 4 including the
City of Westlake, and Mossville, and the area north of Sulphur to the Houston
River. |
