At its January 2nd regular meeting, the
Calcasieu Parish Police Jury elected Chuck Kleckley
as President for 2003 and Brent Clement as
Vice-President, both by acclamation. Mr.
Kleckley
succeeds Enos Derbonne, and Mr. Clement
succeeds Hal McMillin.
Mr. Kleckley stated that he was honored to be
selected by his colleagues as President, and he
mentioned some key goals for the Police Jury in
2003. They include: developing long term plans and
strategies for alleviating drainage problems in
populated areas, enacting policies to reduce
sewerage discharge into parish ditches, continuing
progress on major recreational projects such as the
construction of a boat launch and park at the
Industrial Canal and completing design plans for the
expanded Prien Lake Park, and renewing the Burton
Coliseum and Agricultural Service Tax, which was
recommended by the newly-formed Burton Coliseum
Advisory Council.
Mr. Kleckley represents
District 8, which includes the unincorporated Ward 3
area (and a portion of Lake Charles), west of Lake
Street, east of Big Lake Road, south to Lincoln
Road, and north to Sale Street.
