Police Jury appoints interim District 8 Police Juror

March 1, 2005

At it's regular meeting on Thursday, February 3, 2005, the Police Jury filled the vacancy existing in District 8, which was created when Chuck Kleckley was sworn in as State Representative.

Ms. Mary Kaye Eason, an instructor in the College of Business at McNeese State University, was appointed to fill this seat until a permanent replacement is elected in October.

Eason was nominated by former Police Juror Chuck Kleckley, who says, "It is without reservation that I recommend Mary Kaye...I believe she will represent the intent of the citizens of District 8 and Calcasieu Parish with energy, enthusiasm, intellect, and fairness."

Mary Kaye and her husband, Michael, have two daughters, Kelli and Kristen.  The Eason's attend Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.

The election of a permanent replacement for this seat will be October 15, 2005.  A run-off election will be held November 12th, if needed.  For more information on Ms. Eason, and a map of District 8, click here District 8.
