Terracina, Director of Calcasieu Parish Mosquito
Control, recently received the Medal of Honor Award
at the 68th Annual Meeting of the
American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA) in
Denver, CO., February 17-21. The award was
presented by Dr. Sammie Dickson, President of AMCA,
and is given to members who have made outstanding
contributions and service to the association. Terracina
is the 40th recipient since 1972, when
the award was first presented.
Calcasieu Parish has employed Terracina for the past
26 years, serving as Director of Mosquito Control
for the past 22 years. As a member of AMCA for over
20 years, he has served the association in many
capacities. The AMCA committees on which he has
served include; Finance (chaired 2 years),
Resistance, Nominating, Pesticide Environmental
Stewardship, Legislative and Regulatory, Executive,
Central Office, Bylaws and Annual Meeting. Terracina
served on the Board of Directors from 1995-2000 as
South Central Regional Director, representing the
states of LA, TX, OK, AR and MS. In 1991 and 1993,
he served as Acting Executive Director of the
association. He was awarded the AMCA Meritorious
Service Award in 1990 and a Presidential Meritorious
Sevice Award as Acting Executive Director in 1991.
