Every year, the
Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is recognized for its
excellence in financial reporting.
A main reason:
Jerry Milner, Parish
Director of Finance.
According to Parish Administrator Mark McMurry,
Milner and the staff he hired are among the best
financial staffs in the nation. "From the
moment that he got here, this has been one
continuous leap of efficiency," McMurry said.
"Every year he comes up with improvements."
Milner, who has worked for the Police Jury for the
past 12 years, was recently awarded the Chartered
Financial Analyst designation by the Association for
Investment Management and Research. The
CFA designation is recognized around the world as
the premier designation in the investment
profession. Earning this designation required
a minimum of three years of study to pass three
six-hour examinations covering a globally relevant
body of knowledge set by an international council of
investment-industry leaders.
According to McMurry, this prestigious designation
is world-class assurance that Milner's handling and
investment of the public's funds meets the highest,
most rigorous standards of investment
professionalism.
"We
are most proud of Jerry's achievement," he said.
"We are appreciative for his commitment of personal
time and effort to reach this standard of
excellence. The citizens of Calcasieu Parish
are indeed fortunate to have Jerry Milner at the
helm of their parish's financial affairs."
For
the last nine years, Milner and his staff have been
awarded the Government Finance Officers
Association's national Certificate of Achievement
for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
