Phase
one of a project to renovate and expand the
Calcasieu Parish Health Unit at 721 East Prien Lake
Road in Lake Charles is approximately 45% complete
and is scheduled to be completed by February, 2003.
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury project has
progressed at a steady pace. The concrete
foundations and steel framework is complete. The
exterior walls and interior partitions are now being
constructed. The mechanical and electrical systems
are being installed, and the interior color
selections are being made.
Plans
are to relocate the existing health services to the
new facility upon completion of the project. The
plan also includes demolishing the present facility
to create a new parking area and main entrance from
Kirkman Street.
The
facility has been redesigned to offer expanded
services and programs. The changes will improve
access, flow, and circulation. All the buildings
located at the Health Unit will be similar is
appearance, colors, and materials.
