Dane
Bolin was recently named Assistant to the Director
of the Office of Juvenile Justice Services (OJJS)
and is also serving as Acting Director of Detention
Services.
Dane was employed with
OJJS from 1991-2002, after which time he ventured
off to Tucson, Arizona to partner a family
business. “Other than the humidity and the
mosquitoes, my family is happy to be back home in
Lake Charles,” says Bolin.
Dane is a graduate of
McNeese State University, where he majored in
Criminal Justice. He served in the Navy from
1983-1989 and the Army National Guard from
1988-1989. He was a Deputy Marshal for the Lake
Charles City Marshal’s Office from 1989-1991. In
February, 1991, Dane came to work for the Police
Jury as a Home Detention Officer, and was promoted
to Director of Detention Services in 1998. He is a
Certified Instructor in Crisis Intervention and is a
Past Board Member and President of the Louisiana
Juvenile Detention Association. He also serves on
the Crisis Team for the Police Jury.
When asked what goals he
is focusing on, Dane replied, “There are many things
that I’d like to accomplish, but I’m focusing on
renovations and maintenance issues at the Detention
Center.” On a side note, he is looking forward to
defending OJJS’s softball title.
Dane and his wife Cathy
have two children, Emily, 13 and Brett, 10. He is
an avid sports fan, including hunting and golf.
