Office of Juvenile Justice Services welcomes back Dane Bolin

September 8, 2003

Dane Bolin was recently named Assistant to the Director of the Office of Juvenile Justice Services (OJJS) and is also serving as Acting Director of Detention Services.

Dane was employed with OJJS from 1991-2002, after which time he ventured off to Tucson, Arizona to partner a family business.  “Other than the humidity and the mosquitoes, my family is happy to be back home in Lake Charles,” says Bolin.

Dane is a graduate of McNeese State University, where he majored in Criminal Justice.  He served in the Navy from 1983-1989 and the Army National Guard from 1988-1989.  He was a Deputy Marshal for the Lake Charles City Marshal’s Office from 1989-1991.  In February, 1991, Dane came to work for the Police Jury as a Home Detention Officer, and was promoted to Director of Detention Services in 1998.  He is a Certified Instructor in Crisis Intervention and is a Past Board Member and President of the Louisiana Juvenile Detention Association.  He also serves on the Crisis Team for the Police Jury.

When asked what goals he is focusing on, Dane replied, “There are many things that I’d like to accomplish, but I’m focusing on renovations and maintenance issues at the Detention Center.”  On a side note, he is looking forward to defending OJJS’s softball title.

Dane and his wife Cathy have two children, Emily, 13 and Brett, 10.  He is an avid sports fan, including hunting and golf.

A warm “welcome back” to Dane!
