Does your Christmas Tree look like Charlie Brown’s?
If so, please donate your tree to us! Calcasieu &
Cameron Parish Police Juries have joined together to
do the Christmas Tree Recycling Project. This year
we will be using 18,000 trees to complete our 2
project sites. We collect approximately 5,000-8,000
Christmas trees in Calcasieu & Cameron; therefore,
we will also be receiving trees from Baton Rouge,
Alexandria & Lafayette.
The
Parish has made it very convenient for the public to
drop off their tree at one of the 19 following
locations or put their tree at the curb (Lake
Charles & Carlyss area only):

The
project site in Calcasieu Parish is located
in Prien Lake where it adjoins the Calcasieu River.
The bank line, which has acted as a barrier to
eroding the nearby shoreline of a few residential
subdivisions, has nearly disappeared. The brush
fences were built in phases over the past 2 years.
We will be putting approximately 6,000 Christmas
trees in the 750 feet of existing brush fences at
this location
The
other site is located in Cameron Parish at
the Cameron-Creole Watershed. The brush fences were
constructed 2 years ago with a length of 1,800
feet. Approximately 12,000 trees are needed for
this location. The partially filled fences will be
used for erosion control & marsh creation.
