The
Police Jury, and other local participants, partnered
with the Calcasieu Parish School Board on a 2003
grant application that will provide funding for a
Community Technology Center (CTC). At this center,
people of all ages and educational backgrounds can
receive training on various computer applications
ranging from Microsoft Office Suite to Advanced
Computer and Networking. It also offers GED/ACT
preparation and has job search capabilities. All
courses are provided free of charge. There are two
centers in the lake area that are now operating, 600
South Shattuck Street next to the Ralph Clifton
Reynaud Community Center, and the Educational
Resource Center in the Prien Lake Mall (near JC
