The
Calcasieu community is invited to attend and
participate in a public meeting of the Calcasieu
Community Health and Environmental Forum. The
topic for this meeting will be neural birth defects
in general and concentrate on anencephaly, a tragic
birth defect in which children are born without a
major portion of the brain.
The meeting will be on
Wednesday, September 22, 2004 from 6:00p.m. -
8:00p.m. in Stokes Auditorium in Hardtner Hall
on the McNeese campus.
Presenters include:
L. Kay Webster, Louisiana Birth Defects Monitoring
Network; Jamal Saqer, MD, Children's Clinic of SWLA;
Juan Acuna, MD, Maternal and Child Health
Epidemiologist; and Marcy Speer, PhD, Professor at
the Duke Center for Human Genetics, Duke University.

Community Health and Environmental Forum is hosted
by the Violet H. Howell Institute for the Study of
Industry-Community Relations located within the
Department of Biological and Environmental Services
at McNeese State University. |
