Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month

October 3, 2003

Calcasieu Parish Animal Control and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (ASPCA) will observe October as Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog month.  While millions of dogs are adopted each year, millions more are still awaiting their permanent homes.

Meeting your match is as easy as one, two, three.

1) Hold a family meeting to discuss everyone's canine expectations.

2) Read up on breed types that catch your interest.

3) Go to the shelter and meet your match!

Each unique dog is $90.00 (which includes neuter/spay surgery, heartworm check, micro chipping, worming and rabies vaccinations) and comes with his/her own bag of treats.

Adoption counselors will be happy to play matchmaker.  Their hands-on knowledge of the canine adoption candidates is invaluable to ensuring adopters find a dog that fits just right.

Contact Anne Godeaux or an adoption counselor at 439-8879 or visit them at the Calcasieu Parish Animal Shelter on 5500 A Swift Plant Road between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
