Hal McMillin was first elected in 1999, and is serving his fifth term as a Police Juror. He served as President of the Police Jury in 2005 and 2009. He served as a Westlake City Councilman from 1995 to 1999, and helped to lead the recovery efforts after Hurricane Rita as Police Jury President in 2005. He works for Levingston Engineers as Business Development Manager. He and his wife, Sue, have five children, Marsha, Boone, Amy, Chris, and Patrick, and four grandchildren - Carter, Kylier, Haydan, and Madison.

 He is a charter member of Westlake Ducks Unlimited, and a Ducks Unlimited Silver Sponsor. Hal retired after 23 years of service at Conoco Chemical/SASOL, and is formerly the Outdoor Reporter for the local NBC Affiliate - KPLC Channel 7 News, and Outdoor Reporter for KVHP Fox 29.   Hal is currently featured in the "Ask the Expert" segments on KPLC Channel 7 News.

His hobbies include salt-water fishing, duck, goose, and dove hunting, and snow skiing. Hal is a certified open-water scuba diver, and enjoys most outdoor activities and sharing the best of Southwest Louisiana with friends.

 

In 2007, Hal graduated from the Texas Auctioneer Academy and obtained a Louisiana State Auctioneer License (License #1661-07). After obtaining his license, Hal auctioneered at a number of fundraising events throughout SWLA including the Children's Museum, Boy Scouts of America, The Heart Foundation, The Cancer Foundation, The American Red Cross, Whistle Stop, and many other school and church events throughout the area.  He has donated his time and talents for various fundraising benefits for citizens in the community for medical expenses which contributed to over a million dollars in fundraising. In 2011 Hal was appointed by Governor Bobby Jindal to the Louisiana Auctioneers Licensing Board.

Hal and his wife, Sue, are active members of First United Methodist Church in Lake Charles.  Hal considers being married to his soul mate and best friend to be his greatest blessing in life.

Hal has served as Chair of all major committees and was Police Jury Vice-President in 2002.  He is Vice-President of the SWLA Economic Development Alliance Board, and serves on the IMCAL Board of Directors.
