Special Events Permits
Special Events are defined by the state as events where alcoholic
beverages are sold or are supplied as part of a general admission or
other type fee.
A Special Events permit is limited to a maximum of 3 consecutive days.
There are 3 types of permits:
Type A permits are issued to non-profit organizations with tax exempt status
under U.S. Internal Revenue Service Code, Sect. 501© (3) or © (8).
To qualify for this permit, applicants must submit 1)written proof
of tax exempt status from I.R.S., 2) a valid lease, contract, or
written permission of the property owner to sell alcoholic beverages
or charge an admission type fee when the applicant does not own the
property where the special event will occur. NO CHARGE
Type B permits are issued to non-profit organizations that do not have
Section 501 © (3) or © (8)- tax exempt status; 1) if the applicant
can provide reasonable proof of their non-profit status such as
documentation from the Secretary of State or an IRS designation
other than the above, or documentation that all the proceeds will go
to a charitable cause; 2) a notarized written lease, contract, or
written permission of the property owner to sell alcoholic beverages
or charge an admission type fee when the applicant does not own the
property where the special event will occur. NO CHARGE
Type C permits are issued to persons who do not meet the requirements of the
above. To qualify for a Type C permit, applicants must meet the
qualifications required of permit holders under R.S. 26:80 & R.S.
26:280 and submit a notarized written lease, contract or written
permission of the property owner to sell alcoholic beverages or
charge an admission type fee when the applicant does not own the
property where the special event will occur. $250.00 fee
All applicants must complete a parish notarized application form and a hold
harmless agreement from the parish. All Special Events permits shall
be placed on the agenda of the next regularly scheduled meeting of
the Police Jury for notification and informational purposes.
