Employee Benefits Information
Retirement:
It is mandatory for all regular employees working 28 hours or more per
week under the age of 55 to contribute to the Parochial Employees Retirement
System of Louisiana. If there is a break in employment before 7
years of service, an employee may receive a refund of their
contributions and will lose the Parish contributions. For more

Paid Leave: Currently, regular Parish employees
accrue sick leave
at a rate that varies from .0462 to .0692
hours for each hour of work, based on years of continuous employment.
Regular employees receive 11 paid holidays
per year. Vacation
days are earned based on years of continuous employment. Other paid
leaves include Funeral leave, Civil leave (Jury Duty),
and Military leave.
Health Benefits: Excellent comprehensive
medical
and dental programs that include a vision program and a prescription drug program, along with term
life insurance
are available to employees and their dependents after three months of
employment.
Additional insurance
coverage is available for cancer protection,
deductible/co-insurance protection, accident/income protection, and
intensive care protection. A Cafeteria Plan account can be set
up for participating employees to make contributions for certain
specified payments, such as his/her portion of the health insurance.
Other Benefits:
Employees and their families can take advantage of the free,
confidential, professional help offered through the Employee
Assistance Program. A Health Club Plan
is available for
employees and their families to obtain memberships in participating
health clubs at corporate rates. Savings and Loans are available to
