• Properly process and record all financial transactions that occur in the Divisions and Departments of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, along with those that occur in the Parish's component units whose financial records are maintained by the Division of Finance.
  

• Invest available monies in legally approved investment vehicles.
  

• Prepare monthly in-house financial statements on all operational funds.
  

• Prepare the Police Jury's Annual Budget.
  

• Prepare the Parish's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
  

• Perform the payroll functions including filing all applicable payroll tax and retirement reports.
  

• Assist management in financial statement analysis and in other financial matters.
  

• Cost analysis on the issuance of long-term debt and compliance with federal, state and local mandates.
  

• Respond to questions by third party creditors, etc, concerning the Parish financial condition.

HIGHLIGHTS

• The Finance Division has received its 14th consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the National GFOA for its 2004 report.
  

• The Finance Division has continued to expand the number of funds, now totaling over 128 funds, for which financial and accounting services are provided.
