On Saturday, April 16,
2005, the annual *rabies clinic was held at 17
locations across Calcasieu Parish. The clinic
offers a chance for citizens to have their dog
and/or cat vaccinated against rabies by a licensed
vet at a reduced rate.
This year, the clinic
was a success with a total of 3,856 animals being
vaccinated. Calcasieu Parish Animal Services
Operations Manager, David Marcantel states,
“It was great to see the participation this year by
the citizens. This clinic offers a reduced rate for
the vaccinations, and I was pleased to see that the
citizens took advantage and came out.” Marcantel
also offers appreciation to the Calcasieu Parish
Animal Services staff and volunteers, made up of
elected officials and citizens, for their help
during the clinics. “It’s a lot of work to set up
at 17 locations, and the volunteers were a key part
in the outcome of our clinic.”
