Police Jury and NACO Team Up with New Prescription Drug Card Program
New Pharmacy Card Open to All in Parish
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury recently passed an initiative that will offer a discount on prescription drugs to the public. The program is in partnership with the National Association of Counties Organization (NACO). Nearly 46 million Americans are without prescription coverage. One out of six Americans under the age of 65 are uninsured, and 33% of prescriptions never get filled.
The NACO Prescription Drug Discount Card Program will be available to every citizen in Calcasieu Parish, and will provide a 10-30% discount off each prescription, depending on the certain classification of the drug. Citizens will be able to pick up the card at most area pharmacies and other medical locations. There is no enrollment process or fee attached to the program. Additionally, there are no age or income requirements. The only restriction is that the card cannot be used with any other insurance plan.
The card will be accepted abroad at 59,000 pharmacies nationwide, as 9 out of 10 pharmacies participate in the card program.
