Due to Calcasieu River Flooding
Flooding causes closure of boat launches along Calcasieu River
May 5, 2017 – The Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness said all Parish boat launches along the Calcasieu River North of Interstate Ten are closed due to high water from this week’s heavy rainfall.
The following boat launches will be barricaded until further notice:
- River Bluff Park, Moss Bluff
- Riverside Park, Westlake
- English Bayou
- Goodman Road
- White Oak Park
- Anthony Ferry
- Holbrook Park
- West Fork/Gahagan Lane.
The Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso on Thursday issued a State of Emergency for areas north of the Interstate 10 Bridge on the Calcasieu River, extending to the parish line.
The emergency prohibits all recreational boat traffic on the Calcasieu River. Extra Sheriff’s Office Marine Division patrols will be used to enforce the ban.
The emergency declaration will remain in place until river levels return to normal.
Residents who may need emergency help should call 911.
