Phone Lines Opening to Reserve Appointments for Low Income Utility Assistance

Calcasieu residents can make an appointment to apply for financial assistance regarding their electricity and gas utility expenses starting Tuesday, January 17th. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) benefited more than 7,800 people in 2015 – 2016.

Applications will be looked at on a first-come, first-served basis and residents must schedule an appointment with a representative in order to apply for assistance. The LiHEAP program is based on a resident’s total income, and priority is given to residents over 60 years of age, households with children under 5 years of age, and the disabled.

Interested residents can call 337-721-4033 from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. beginning January 17th. Scheduled appointments will be given in the following communities on specified days and times.
